Disney was unable to find a way to make the Snow Queen more real and eventually abandoned film plans. She was fair and beautiful, but made of ice-shining and glittering ice. In the story, she is described as "a woman, dressed in garments of white gauze, which looked like millions of starry snow-flakes linked together. ![]() However, Disney struggled with creating a believable, multi-dimensional adaption of the fairy tale's title character, who was intended to be a villain. The tale focuses on two children, one named Gerda, who served as the basis for Princess Anna, and the other named Kai, who is "cursed with negativity" after his eyes are pierced with shards of glass from an enchanted mirror and is later kidnapped by the Snow Queen. Menzel was also widely praised for her vocal performance of Elsa, especially that of her performance of the song " Let It Go".ĭevelopment Origins and concept An illustration of the Snow Queen, the character Elsa is based upon.Īttempts were made as early as 1937 by Walt Disney to adapt Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, " The Snow Queen", into a film. This led to Elsa being gradually rewritten as a sympathetic, misunderstood character.Įlsa has received largely positive reception from reviewers, who praised her complex characterization and vulnerability. As much as Anna's struggle is external, Elsa's is internal. Buck and his co-director, Jennifer Lee, were ultimately able to solve the dilemma by depicting Elsa and Anna as sisters. Several film executives, including Walt Disney, attempted to build on the character, and a number of scheduled film adaptations were shelved when they could not work out the character. The Snow Queen character, neutral but cold-hearted in the original fairytale and villain in numerous adaptations of the character, proved difficult to adapt to film due to her transparent depiction. Throughout the film, she struggles first with controlling and concealing her abilities and then with liberating herself from her fears of unintentionally harming others, especially her younger sister. She inadvertently sends Arendelle into an eternal winter on the evening of her coronation. Elsa has the magical ability to create and manipulate ice and snow. In the Disney film adaptation, she is introduced as a princess in the fictional Scandinavian Kingdom of Arendelle, heiress to the throne and the elder sister of Anna ( Kristen Bell). In Frozen II, young Elsa is voiced by Mattea Conforti (at the start of the film) and Eva Bella (archive audio).Ĭreated by co-writers and directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, Elsa is loosely based on the title character of " The Snow Queen", a Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. And I have to say sorry, VMWare, unfortunately it is not based on Fusion anylonger. But I needed to run MS Visio on my mac and needed a solution. And the latest preview is from September 2021. It is very sad, that VMWare still is not able to present a solution. But I wasn't able to get it run on Fusion for M1 - the installation always ended in a blue screen & reboot. You need to register (for free) for the "Insider Preview Program" to be able to download it. Runs very fast! There exists, of course, a Windows ARM version downloadable. So I started to test Fusion for M1 and could install&run Linux for ARM. I worked many many years with Fusion on Intel Mac and ran into the same issue since last year, when I bought the new 16" M1 macbook pro. If you need a Linux VM that's very much possible on Apple Silicon, and it works well using the VMware Fusion Tech Preview. An Intel Mac (VMware Fusion) or a PC with Windows or Linux (VMware Workstation). If you need a Windows VM you need to run a suitable version of VMware on an x86 platform, meaning Intel or AMD processor. open-vm-tools is available through most package managers in these Linux distributions and is usually installed by default when installing a Linux OS in a VM. Linux has been supporting ARM for several years, so ARM support in modern Linux distributions is very good. What you can do is run Linux VMs, such as Ubuntu and Fedora, that are available for ARM. If Microsoft were to make a suitable license available I'm sure the VMware Fusion guys will support it eventually, but for now there are no VMware Tools available for Windows on ARM, and any methods to install it anyways are unsupported and most likely won't work well if at all. There are some ways to do it, but they don't work well and since there is no way to get a license VMware does not make any effort to support Windows on ARM. Are you saying that the preview version should work if and only if I use VMWare tools? If so, where can I get the explain-it-like-I'm-5 version of how to install VMWare tools, including which version to use (Mac, Windows?) and how I make the disk image available to VMWare Fusion in the right way?īasically, as things are right now you can not run Windows in VMware on Apple Silicon. I downloaded the preview version for free to run on my new MacBook Pro, which uses an M1 chip. I am a web developer but I am very new to running virtual machines, so you might need to explain things to me slowly, with all the jargon defined. But note that it's unsupported, and without VMWare tools has significant limitations. Some folks have gotten it to work (see other threads here in the forum for tips). > Due to microsoft licensing restrictions there is currently no support for running Windows ARM on an M1 machine. There is NO way to run Intel guests on an M1 machine (period, full stop - if you need Intel guests, run an intel machine). The preview version will run ARM guests only. There is a preview version (that's the forum you actually posted the question in). ![]() ![]() ![]() Spots where Giant Bombs or Bomb Towers are/may be should be given special attention when deploying Healing Spells. This is so that the Hog Riders get the most value out of the Healing Spell, and destroy the defenses without losing too much HP. Instead, some detail downright silly ways in which the prince of darkness gets himself killed outside of Hades’ domain of deathtraps. But after you clear the game a lot - somewhere in the double digits, by my count - these screens are completely untethered from the narrative. Some of these vignettes are narrative-driven, mostly to do with the fact that, absent a motivation to see his long-estranged mother, Zagreus can’t survive for long periods while topside. In this laissez-faire endgame state, instead of trudging through that final sequence an eleventh time, the narrator regales you with a short tale of what befalls the underworld prince. At this point, defeating Hades becomes less a matter of progressing the story and more a test of how good you’ve become at the game. Visiting her humble garden becomes a thing of the past, at least on-screen. Persephone, Zagreus’ mum, comes back home at the House of Hades. You don’t have to walk along the Peloponnesian cliffs. He sees football as a war, where you struggle and evolve/win, or stagnate and die/lose. He cares about how playing this game will help him achieve his goals (literal goals and figurative goals). He does seem to care about football to some degree (in fact, he seems to take it a little too seriously), but not in it's own right. This qualifies the earlier impression that Rin doesn't care about football. He talks about how "soccer is a deathmatch" and how he views the pitch as a battlefield. We see something similar expressed during the first 3v3 with Rin's team. Based on this impression, we're led to believe that Rin doesn't really care about football for it's own sake, but rather as a means to an end. He wants to take advantage of the ticket into the u20 team, where his ultimate goal lies: Overcoming his brother Itoshi Sae. He talks about how the Blue Lock system, along with the players in it, is just a means to an end for him. The first impression we get of Rin is that he is incredibly goal-driven, intense and an asshole. We were introduced to Rin first, of the two. Upon some further analysis, I believe that this dilemma Isagi was faced with (and his subsequent answer) was a perfect representation of the differences between Rin and Shidou, and why they are perfect foils for one another. ![]() What did Isagi mean by "helping to link those two"? Did he even know? Upon re-reading, I took notice of the fact that neither of those things actually happened and was wondering what the meaning of Isagi's insight actually was. It was mentioned during the game that Isagi would find his goal when he managed to find a way to "link" those two together, and I imagine it was assumed by a lot of people at the time that Isagi would find some way to get them to work together, or devour both in order to win. I was doing a quick re-read of the first match of the third selection, and thought it'd be cool to do an analysis on the uniquely adversarial relationship of both Rin and Shidou. She and James had three children in total: Elsa, John, and Spencer. Margaret DuttonĪ nurse for the Confederate Army, Margaret (Faith Hill) farmed beside her husband, James, in Tennessee before the family headed northwest for new territory. He intended to journey further beyond Montana, but settled there after the death of his daughter, Elsa. Originally a farmer from Tennessee, he traveled west with his wife and children after fighting as a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. One of the leads of 1883, James Dutton (Tim McGraw) was the original patriarch of the Dutton family, and the first to claim the family’s home in Montana. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched Yellowstone, 1883, or 1923. A quick disclaimer, however: Because the Taylor Sheridan universe has yet to reveal the official Dutton family tree, the following is a speculation based on what the shows have revealed so far. Below, take a closer look through the possible knots of the Dutton family tree. ![]() So, to understand this “haunted” family best, it’s essential to parse its origins. (A trauma that will, inevitably, impact the land.) That last line in particular is intriguing, given the ways in which the Yellowstone universe concerns itself with the romanticism of tradition, the nobility of the past-though only certain portions of it-and the passing-down of intergenerational trauma. Ford’s Jacob Dutton, brother to McGraw’s James Dutton, is tasked with caring for his brother’s home and family, a challenge complicated by the expected 20th-century problems: disease, drought, the Great Depression, post-war fallout, and “the violence that has always haunted this family,” as the 1923 trailer teases. The story picks back up in 1923-which dropped its first episode December 18-with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as this chapter’s key Duttons. ![]() 1883, which concluded its first season in February 2022, featured Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as the central Duttons, who claim the infamous patch of Montana wild known as the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch after the tragic death of their daughter, Elsa. ![]() But if the ever-expanding Yellowstone Cinematic Universe has anything resonant to say about legacy, it’s that the land’s legacy is determined by the people who care for it, and that means the Dutton lineage-the fathers and sons of this century-spanning epic-matters as much as the borders of their property.Īnd so we turn to 18, creator Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone prequel spin-offs, which chronicle the upper tiers of the family tree as they branch down to John Dutton III and his four(ish) children. He often seems more interested in the well-being of this land than that of his own children-or, perhaps, it’s simply that he has an easier time understanding what it needs to thrive. That of the Yellowstone Ranch, upon which the fictional Dutton family has lived since the late 1800s, is foremost in the mind of patriarch John Dutton III, played by Kevin Costner with the gruff bluster of a cowboy past his prime. Yellowstone has always been a series interested in, if not outright obsessed with, legacy. ![]() |
